Special Exhibition: Vitra Lounge Chair Atelier, at GUNNI&TRENTINO

For the first time in our country, it will be possible to learn about the production process of an icon of modern design, the Eames Lounge Chair by the Swiss brand Vitra.

Our showroom features an open workshop where various aspects of the Lounge Chair's manufacturing process will be demonstrated, including the use of natural materials, the various stages of production, the features that ensure durability, and the eco-friendly components of a Lounge Chair. These are explained through panels, manufacturing materials, and videos.

The exhibition will also feature several Lounge Chairs in different finishes and sizes. Some of the pieces, from private collections, have been loaned specifically for this exhibition.
exposure.

LOUNGE CHAIR ATELIER

The Lounge Chair Atelier will be open to the public until January 11, 2020. The first customers who decide to purchase a Lounge Chair in these days will have the opportunity to witness the assembly of their own chair in this workshop by a Vitra artisan, who will be in Madrid, hand-customizing a limited series of pieces on December 12.

Currently, and until the same date, there is a promotion for the Spanish market where you can purchase a customized Lounge Chair with the selected finishes, maintaining the prices of the next lower finish category.

Some history.

"Why don't we make an updated version of the old English club chair?" With this comment, Charles Eames began developing the Lounge Chair, a process that began in the 1950s and lasted several years. His goal was to create a spacious and well-proportioned chair that combined comfort with the use of exceptionally high-quality materials and workmanship.

The armchair designed by Charles and Ray Eames set new standards: not only is it lighter, sleeker, and more modern than the heavy English club chairs, but it is also more comfortable.
Thanks to these qualities, the Lounge Chair became one of the Eames couple's most famous designs, and is now a classic in the history of modern furniture.

"This is a piece of exceptional value, whose value increases over the years," explains a private collector who has lent one of his armchairs for the exhibition. Vitra has
manufactured the Charles and Ray Eames Lounge Chair using the same manufacturing methods since the 1950s. After consulting with the Eames Office, the Swiss brand has now expanded the
selection to include new color combinations of leather upholstery, wood veneers and carefully coordinated bases.
