Konstantin Grcic
Konstantin Grcic is one of the most influential industrial designers of his generation. Born in Munich in 1965, he trained in cabinetmaking in England before specializing in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1991, he founded his own studio in Berlin, where he has collaborated with leading firms such as Vitra and Flos, among others. His works, which combine technical precision, rigorous minimalism, and a sensitivity to materials, reflect a contemporary vision of design as a tool that is both functional and poetic.
Many of his pieces, such as the May Day lamp for Flos or the Chair One for Magis, have become icons of international design and are part of the permanent collections of museums such as MoMA and the Centre Pompidou. Grcic has also curated exhibitions, designed installations, and created limited editions that explore the boundaries between art, architecture, and design. His work is distinguished by a refined and experimental aesthetic, with a rational approach that retains emotion and meaning.
