Mario Bellini

Mario Bellini is one of the great figures of Italian design and architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries. Born in Milan in 1935, he graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic and since the 1960s has left a profound mark on industrial design, collaborating with firms such as Olivetti, Cassina, Kartell, Vitra, and B&B Italia. Recognized for his innovative approach and mastery of formal language, Bellini has been awarded the Compasso d'Oro eight times and has created true design icons such as the Cab chair and the Bambole collection. His work is featured in the permanent collections of MoMA in New York, which dedicated an exhibition to him in 1987. His output ranges from furniture to lamps, decorative objects, and advanced technology.

In addition to his contributions to design, Mario Bellini has created architectural works of international significance, such as the Louvre Museum of Islamic Arts in Paris, the Tokyo Design Center, and the MIC in Milan. He has edited the magazine Domus , taught at prestigious universities, and curated major exhibitions. His humanistic approach, his sensitivity to innovation, and his ability to integrate functionality and poetry make him an essential figure in contemporary design, both in the industrial and architectural fields.
