Nipadoshi & Jonathan Levien
Doshi Levien is the London studio founded by Indian designer Nipa Doshi and Scottish designer Jonathan Levien, a creative duo that fuses cultural heritage, artisanal skills, and industrial sensibility into their own aesthetic language. Their unique approach combines technological sophistication with visual poetry, traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation. Since 2000, Doshi and Levien have collaborated with prestigious international brands such as B&B Italia, Moroso, Kettal, and HAY, creating iconic pieces such as the Quilton sofas, the Do-Maru armchair, and the Cala outdoor line.
The studio is defined by the hybridization of worlds: the visual narrative of Nipa Doshi, influenced by her Indian roots, meets the technical precision of Levien, a trained cabinetmaker. This synthesis results in products imbued with identity, form, and function. Her works have been recognized in permanent collections at MoMA in New York and Cooper Hewitt, and her presence at international fairs and museums confirms her global impact. Doshi Levien demonstrates that design can be both functional and deeply emotional and culturally resonant.
