Sebastian Herkner
Sebastian Herkner is a German designer renowned for his mastery in blending craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural diversity. Born in 1981 in Bad Mergentheim, he trained in Product Design at HfG Offenbach University and, after a stint in Stella McCartney's studio, founded his own practice in 2006. Since then, he has collaborated with prestigious brands such as Thonet, ClassiCon, Moroso, and &Tradition, developing pieces that stand out for their sensitivity to materials, color, and texture, as well as for their deep commitment to craftsmanship and traditional techniques.
His designs, such as the iconic Bell table and the Banjooli armchair, not only showcase a refined contemporary aesthetic but also celebrate cultural diversity and craftsmanship. Herkner reinterprets tradition through a modern lens, as with the 118 chair for Thonet, combining classic techniques with industrial precision. An international award-winner and named "Designer of the Year" by Maison&Objet in 2019, his career combines consistency, refinement, and a constant curiosity that has made him a key figure in global design today.
