Vincenzo De Cotiis
Vincenzo De Cotiis is one of the most radical and poetic voices in contemporary design. Born in Gonzaga in 1958 and trained as an architect at the Milan Polytechnic, he founded his studio in 1997 to shape a deeply material and emotional artistic language. His creations, both unique and limited edition, are born from the contrast between the precious and the worn, the industrial and the organic. De Cotiis works with reclaimed materials—such as wood, fiberglass, and stone—fusing them with metals, resins, and fabrics to create sculptural objects where time, imperfection, and memory coexist.
His work straddles the border between art, design, and architecture, and is presented through his gallery in Milan and at international fairs such as Design Miami/Basel, PAD London, and Art Paris. Each piece by De Cotiis is a manifestation of his alchemical process: deconstructing to recompose, eroding to reveal, transforming matter into an aesthetic experience. His interiors and objects challenge traditional norms of luxury, proposing a visual universe where the unfinished and imperfect achieve a disturbing and profoundly contemporary beauty.
