HOUSE DECOR 2023

British-inspired kitchen-office. A space to forget the passage of time.

In their seventh participation at Casa Decor Madrid, interior design duo Chone de la Sotilla and Lluïsa Deulonder conceived a very special and personal project, encouraged by their three previous wins of the People's Choice Award (2013, 2016, and 2019) and embracing the challenge of once again surprising visitors to this prestigious event in the world of interior design and decoration. American influences are already well-known in Deulonder's designs, but at Casa Decor 2023, Chone and Lluïsa wanted to add a charming nod to contemporary urban English style, fusing it with the distinctive aesthetic that characterizes their work. The result is an exceptionally welcoming look that doesn't compromise on functionality.

In this edition's kitchen-office, we find a layout where order reigns supreme, simplifying household tasks like cooking, cleaning, and storing. A pleasant corner has also been included for eating and relaxing. Deulonder understands the kitchen as the heart of the home, and for this reason, they've created a peaceful environment that fosters quality time with family, a haven of tranquility for deep inspiration and recharging energy to face the hustle and bustle of daily life. Therefore, a range of greens, the quintessential relaxing color, has been combined with a natural tone that contrasts with brass.

Elegant and understated with a touch of modernity

The novelty in 2023 was that the kitchen cabinets were made of solid wood, hand-painted and crafted in the Deulonder workshops. The interiors were also made of varnished oak. This manual manufacturing process ensures the highest quality and also offers the significant advantage of being able to easily change the color if desired.

The flooring was ceramic parquet, very easy to clean and practical. Essential accessories, such as the brass handles and decorative bars, were "Made in London." Other decorative elements, wall lights, and lamps also came from the United Kingdom. Hence the British feel of the space, which is to say elegant and understated with a touch of modernity.

Deulonder's followers will recognize some of the Catalan studio's star designs in their 2023 Casa Decor collection, such as the breakfast buffet, which contains everything needed to start the day right—coffees, teas, sugar, bread, cereals—all neatly arranged in drawers specifically designed for each type of food. Not to be forgotten is the impressive custom-made range hood by Deulonder, or the stunning pantry unit that allows for the organized and practical storage of countless everyday items.

This year, the interior designers have also introduced a delicate wallpaper that envelops the office area while harmonizing with the kitchen furniture, which is the same color. The result is an atmosphere that enhances the feeling of comfort and cleanliness.

The room measures 30 square meters and is divided into three zones. An entrance hall with a coat rack; a breakfast nook featuring a dining table, sideboard, and a convenient breakfast buffet; and finally, the fully equipped kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. The zones are defined by white glass partitions, an elegant system that allows the entire space to be seen at all times, creating a sense of spaciousness and maximizing natural light. The kitchen walls, clad in vertical wooden slats, complement the paneled cabinet doors and the Orac Decor ceiling moldings.
