Charlotte Perriand

Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) was a pioneer of modern design whose work broke down gender barriers and transformed the concept of 20th-century interior design. Her approach combined modernity, functionality, and a deep respect for nature, reflected in her organic forms and honest materials. A key collaborator of Le Corbusier for a decade, she brought warmth and humanity to his rationalist spaces, endowing them with aesthetic coherence and innovation. Her nonconformist nature led her to seek inspiration beyond academia, finding it in industrial design and everyday life.

Socially and politically engaged, Perriand championed accessible design that responded to society's real needs. Beginning in 1964, she forged a vital partnership with Cassina, which remains the sole authorized reissuer of her pieces. This alliance has kept her legacy alive through the Charlotte Perriand Collection, currently enriched by the creative direction of Patricia Urquiola. Her work continues to be a universal benchmark of committed, avant-garde, and profoundly human design.
