ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Hee Welling

Hee Welling is a Danish designer renowned for his functional, timeless, and deeply Scandinavian approach. With a master's degree in furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and training at the Helsinki University of Art and Design, he founded his studio in Copenhagen in 2003. Since then, he has collaborated with leading international brands, developing furniture, lighting, and industrial projects that have been exhibited in museums and trade fairs worldwide. His design combines minimalist aesthetics with meticulous attention to comfort, which has led to his pieces appearing in iconic spaces such as the Oslo Opera House, the Australian Parliament, and the headquarters of Amazon and Beats by Dre.

Awarded prizes such as the Good Design Award (USA) and the BoBedre Design Award (Denmark), Hee has also been a design tutor at the Royal Danish Academy and co-founder of the Welling/Ludvik studio with Icelandic designer Gudmundur Ludvik. Together they have developed collections for major manufacturers, maintaining a design language that is understated, elegant, and deeply human. Welling is considered a key figure in contemporary Nordic design, valued for his ability to create durable objects that balance form, function, and sustainability.
