Hee Welling
Hee Welling is a Danish designer recognized for his functional, timeless, and profoundly Scandinavian approach. With a master's degree in furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and training at the Helsinki University of Art and Design, he founded his studio in Copenhagen in 2003. Since then, he has collaborated with leading international brands, developing furniture, lighting, and industrial projects that have been exhibited in museums and trade shows around the world. His design combines a minimalist aesthetic with a careful attention to comfort, which has led his pieces to iconic spaces such as the Oslo Opera House, the Australian Parliament, and the headquarters of Amazon and Beats by Dre.
A recipient of awards such as the Good Design Award (USA) and the BoBedre Design Award (Denmark), Hee has also been a design tutor at the Royal Danish Academy and co-founded the Welling/Ludvik studio, alongside Icelandic designer Gudmundur Ludvik. Together, they have developed collections for leading manufacturers, maintaining a restrained, elegant, and deeply human design language. Welling is considered a key figure in contemporary Nordic design, valued for his ability to create enduring objects that balance form, function, and sustainability.
